Corvus corax - Found in abundant numbers throughout the Northern Hemisphere, the common raven is one of the largest passerine birds; an adult stands 54 to 67 centimeters in height, weighs from .69 to 2 kilograms, and has a wingspan of 115 to 130 centimeters. The most notable feature of the raven is its black iridescence color. Iridescence occurs when a object has the ability to change color in relation to the angle of observation and illumination. Ravens differ from crows: they are larger, have shaggy feathers, and wedge-shaped tails.
