The majority of the images used in this project were taken from old manuscripts which have reverted into the public domain. Almost all had to be worked over; some transformations were easier than others. The rendering of some images could be done in a few minutes while others took several hours of careful work in cleaning and restoring them to a usable status. No matter the time or effort, it was worth it.
